Only you can answer that question. There is no 'one size fits all' model and everybody has a different reason for attending. Some people would like ongoing support for their mental or emotional health, whereas other people would like to discuss a specific topic.
Generally speaking, counselling may suit clients who are seeking short-term support dealing with specific issues or life challenges. Therapy may suit clients who are seeking long-term, in-depth therapy that explores their underlying issues and behavioural patterns.
The format of weekly sessions helps clients make progress in a balanced way. It is regular enough for you to see real change, but with enough time between sessions to process the discussion. I also provide fortnightly and monthly sessions upon request.
I use Cliniko, a practice management software, to store all client data. It provides one of the highest degrees of protection possible and is UK GDPR compliant.
I use Cliniko's tele-health software for video calls, meaning that calls are encrypted to industry-standard and my clients join using a unique link.
In line with the BACP Ethical Framework, I meet a minimum of monthly with my supervisor, a highly experienced counsellor. This helps me work therapeutically with my clients in the safest, most effective way.
